Fiona Issler is a british-born artist based since 1968 in Portugal, working across painting, ceramics, sculpture, installations and ceremony.
I have always felt deeply connected to the unseen threads that bind all life — the energies, elements and quiet intelligences that move through nature and the cosmos.
My work emerges from listening to this subtle presence, a song that invites us to remember the beauty and interdependence woven into the world.
Through painting, I explore the meeting point between the earthly and the celestial. Radiant colour, flowing movement, and luminous forms become landscapes of energy — places where nebulae resemble inner worlds, where light becomes emotion, and where creation appears in constant motion.
My sculptures grow from a more tactile dialogue with matter. Each piece begins as raw clay and gradually transforms through an intuitive, almost ritual process. Figures, guardians, and symbolic forms emerge — some grounded in the natural world, others shaped by myth, memory or silent archetypes.
Across all my work, I am guided by a desire to honour life's ongoing transformations — birth, emergence, dissolution, and renewal. Whether through cosmic colour or the quiet presence of sculpted forms, my intention is to create spaces of remembrance and to reveal something of the wonder that exists both within us and far beyond.
