To nurture awareness of this is the impulse behind the work.

The Loulé rock salt mine, formed by an ancient sea, shaped millions of years ago makes this awareness physical. Underground, enclosed by rock & salt, the visitor is not observing the elements from a distance but standing inside them. The sculptures invite the body to feel it.

Iemanjá, deity of the sea and of origin, presides over the work. The mine was once a seabed, her presence here is a recognition that the water underlies everything.

This is not art about nature. It is art made in the conviction that we are nature and that remembering this matters.
